Resumen: Main Purpose As a member of a team led by the Section Head, the incumbent translates into English a range of administrative, legal, economic, scientific and technical texts, particularly in the field of nuclear physics and engineering. The incumbent applies his/her analytical, linguistic and drafting skills to translating texts covering all aspects of the IAEA’s activities. In addition, the incumbent prepares records in English of official meetings conducted in all six official languages. Role The Translator provides accurate, timely and stylistically appropriate translations into English of texts written mainly in Russian, Spanish and French. The incumbent’s translations are normally checked by a Reviser before being finalized for distribution to Member States and/or members of the Secretariat.
The Translator also provides précis-writing services for the preparation of summary records of official meetings and edits texts written in English by the IAEA’s other divisions. Functions / Key Results Expected Translate, mainly from Russian, Spanish and French into English, a broad range of texts and ensure that translations are equivalent in meaning and style to the original texts. Function:
– Design specific materials and activities to promote the development of soft skills (onsite classes combine face-to-face activities and online activities). – These subjects are fully practical and intend to promote self-development and employability in young adults. Include research (60 % of full time), teaching (including supervision and examination) as well as administrative duties (40 %). The holder of this position is expected to be active in education development, to engage in the current research at the Department, to be able to plan and accomplish individual research, to publish internationally and to actively seek external funds.

Qualification requirements
In order to qualify for the position, the applicant must have obtained a doctoral degree in Spanish literature and culture or have a corresponding scientific competence. Eligible candidates are those applicants who obtained the doctoral degree or corresponding scientific competence no later than seven years before the deadline for applications.

The applicant’s research skills should be demonstrated through individual research as well as capacity to initiate and carry out research of high quality within the subject area. Teaching skills should be demonstrated through teaching different types of courses. These skills should be well documented in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching and research activities. Applicants must have documented experience in teaching and supervision in the subject area.

An associate senior lectureship is both a research and a teaching position. The applicant is expected to be able to teach in Spanish and either English or Swedish from the first day of employment. Applicants who do not have Swedish or English as their first language must be able to document their ability to teach in either of these languages.

A general assessment criterion is the ability to work with other people, as well as other general abilities required to perform one’s duties.

Assessment criteria
In the selection among eligible candidates, special attention will be given to research skills demonstrated through individual research. Great attention will be given to teaching skills demonstrated though teaching in the first and second cycles. Administrative skills will also be considered.

Attention will be given to the applicant’s potential to contribute to the future development of both research and education in close collaboration with the Department’s research groups.

Since the assistant senior lectureship is a tenure track position, the applicants’ research and teaching qualifications should primarily be assessed in terms of quality. An applicant’s quantitative advantage, which can be explained by the fact that the applicant has been active for a longer period of time, should not be decisive.

Private circumstances (e.g. parental leave) that may count in the applicant’s favour in the assessment should be mentioned in connection with the presentation of qualifications and experiences.

Descripción: The Institute of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Cologne is looking to fill a position as Postdoc in the Collaborative Research Centre: SFB 1252 “Prominence in Language” in subproject C01 “Prominence and information structure” (Principal Investigator: Professor Aria Adli).
Starting is December 1st, 2017 with a weekly working time of 39,83 hours. The position is a fixed- term work contract ending on 31st of December 2020. The salary is based on the German E13 TV-L scale if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled.

Area of responsibility:
The focus of this research project is the linkage between prominence and information structure through examining the following: 1) the role of prominent syntactic positions in non-canonical word order, 2) the competition between various prominent topic candidates in canonical word order.

The postdoc supports the PI with regard to project coordination and works on the following scientific issues:
– She/he will examine non-canonical word order phenomena (primarily the sentence periphery and postverbal subjects in Spanish, Catalan and possibly Persian, clefts and others in French). The research will be corpus-based, include language comparison and will employ methods of inferential statistics. The focus is on the linkage between information structure and prominent syntactic positions.
– She/he will explore possibilities of modelling syntactic prominence and information structure (e.g. rule based vs. probabilistic). These are to be discussed in relation to relevant current literature on the linkage between syntax and information structure.
– She/he will refine the annotation structure for the multilingual corpus of spoken language sgscorpus.com (with regard to prominent syntactic positions, information structure, definiteness/specificity, etc.). She/he will instruct and train the student annotators and decide problematic cases of annotation.

Profile:
– A flawless command of spoken and written English and a high level of proficiency in French and/or Spanish as well as sufficient structural knowledge to perform analytical and corpus- based work in at least one of the other languages examined in the project (i.e. French, Spanish, Catalan, Persian). Knowledge of German is a plus, candidates without knowledge of German should be willing to gain proficiency within a realistic timeframe.
– She/he is able to coordinate day-to-day business with the PI to ensure that project goals and deadlines are met. For this purpose, she/he will implement a time and task management scheme that incorporates the differing areas of work and coordinates all employed personnel. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are required.
– She/he is capable of working with superior efficiency due to her/his result-oriented and well-organized work approach and can proficiently access new fields of study.

Job prerequisites:

– Ph.D. in linguistics
– International research experience in the field of syntax, information structure and at the interface with related fields of linguistics, as documented via publications
– Sound knowledge of corpus linguistics (annotation, corpus queries) and quantitative analysis of corpus data

El extracto de la Resolución que regula la convocatoria de Profesores en Secciones Bilingües en Europa Central, Oriental, Turquía y China para el curso 2017-18 se ha publicado en el Boletín Oficial del Estado del día 2 de junio.

Plazo de inscripción y registro de solicitudes: del 6 al 20 de junio (los solicitantes deben prestar especial atención al apartado 4.2. de la convocatoria en cuanto a horarios de inscripción y registro de la solicitud en el último día de plazo).

Aunque el plazo de inscripción de solicitudes en PROFEX no se abrirá hasta la fecha indicada, los interesados pueden registrarse ya en la aplicación y rellenar su Currículum adjuntando los méritos que deseen aportar tal y como se indica en el apartado “Documentación de méritos” de la web del programa. Para ello, se recomienda encarecidamente a los candidatos que sigan las indicaciones que se detallan paso a paso en el documento “Instrucciones para el proceso de inscripción y registro de solicitudes” accesible desde la cabecera de la web del programa.

Resumen: Position Overview To ensure that SEGA product is thoroughly and strategically tested for language bugs and to report issues clearly and accurately in a timely manner. We are currently looking to recruit Spanish Speaking Language Testers to join our Language Development Services Team. Employment will be on a zero hours contact. These roles are entry-level positions and are aimed at gamers with language skills who would like to enter the games industry but who are finding it difficult to gain experience. We have 3 shifts patterns: the Normal Shift which runs Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 5:30pm (35 hours per week), Early Shift which runs from Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 3.00pm (35 hours per week) and our Late Shift which runs from Monday to Friday, 3.00pm to 10.30pm (35 hours per week).
